The interior of the tube wall is coated with lithium heparin or sodium heparin. The anticoagulant heparin activates antithrombins
and thus blocks the coagulation cascade and prolong the clotting time. The tubes are used for collection and of specimens in
clinical biochemistry tests and emergency biochemical tests (such as determinations of blood rheology, biochemistry tests, gene
diagnosis, enzymology tests, ELISA tests). Immediately after blood collection,Invert the tubes gently for 5-8 times.

 

Limitations: The tubes are not suitable for coagulation tests;Excessive heparin can cause leukocyte aggregation and thus the tubes
should not be used for tests of white blood cell counts. The additive will cause a light blue background when blood smear is
stained and thus the tubes are not suitable for morphology examination.
